Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a social activity. Think about it, how good would you be if you had no one to train with? You need social skills to have partners willing to train with you. Without appropriate social skills, people will avoid you and you won’t be able to improve your BJJ skills.
Simply put: be respectful and don’t be a jerk to people. Try to be friendly and receptive. Leave your ego behind and just train for the sake of training. Remember that this isn’t a competition and try to have fun. It’s not about winning at all costs. It really is all about learning.
